AI Reply Generator for WhatsApp

Last updated: September 30, 2026 • Chrome Extension • Published by Pulse

Plain-English Summary

Your API key and reply history stay in your browser's own local storage. We do not operate a server for this extension, and nothing passes through us. The only data that ever leaves your device is the handful of recent chat messages sent directly from your browser to the AI provider (OpenAI or Google Gemini) you personally configure, using your own API key, solely to generate a suggested reply.

Your API key is stored only in your browser — never on our servers.
Chat messages are sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you chose. They never route through us.
Your reply history lives only in your browser's local storage. We cannot access it.
We run no analytics, no tracking, no cookies, and no advertising.
Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data automatically.

1. Introduction

AI Reply Generator for WhatsApp (“the extension”) is a Chrome extension published by Pulse (“we,” “our,” or “us”) that helps you draft AI-generated reply suggestions inside WhatsApp Web and keeps a local log of the replies you send. This Privacy Policy explains what the extension reads, what it stores, and what — if anything — leaves your browser. By installing or using the extension, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Read from WhatsApp Web (in your browser only)

  • Chat context: The name of the currently open chat or group, and the text of the last several visible messages in that chat (including who sent each one), so the extension has enough context to draft a relevant reply.

This happens only when you click “Generate reply” or one of the quick-action pills — never automatically in the background, and never for chats you haven't opened.

2.2 Stored locally on your device

  • API key: Your OpenAI or Gemini API key, saved in chrome.storage.local so the extension can authenticate requests on your behalf.
  • Interaction log: Each time you insert a generated reply, we save the contact/group name, the message context used, the reply text, and a timestamp, so you can review what was sent.

Everything in this section lives in chrome.storage.local — a storage area tied to your own browser profile on your own machine. We cannot access it, and it is never transmitted to us.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Generating replies: The scraped chat context is sent to the AI provider you configured, to produce a suggested reply tailored to that conversation.
  • Your reply history: The local interaction log lets you search and review past replies from the extension's popup, and clear it whenever you like.

We do not use your chat content for analytics, advertising, or any purpose beyond generating the reply you asked for in the moment you asked for it.

4. AI Processing

When you click Generate, the extension's background script sends your recent chat context, the contact/group name, and your chosen instruction (e.g. “Polite Decline”) directly to the AI provider you selected:

These requests use your own API key, are sent straight from your browser to the provider, and never route through any server we operate.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your data. The only sharing that occurs is the AI-processing request described in Section 4, sent to the single AI provider you personally chose, using your own key, at your own request.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your API key and interaction log remain in local storage until you remove them. You can clear your entire reply history at any time from the extension's popup (“Clear History”), or remove everything at once by uninstalling the extension — Chrome deletes an extension's local storage automatically when it is removed.

7. Data Security

All network requests use HTTPS. API calls are made from the extension's background service worker, never from the WhatsApp Web page itself, so your key is never exposed to scripts running on web.whatsapp.com. The two AI-provider hosts are requested as optional permissions, granted only once you actually save that provider in Settings.

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • Review: Search your reply history by contact name or keyword from the extension's popup.
  • Delete: Clear your history in one click, or uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data.
  • Revoke access: Remove a granted AI-provider permission at any time from Chrome's extension settings.

9. Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

10. Third-Party Links and Services

The extension sends requests to third-party AI providers (Section 4) that you choose and authenticate yourself. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those providers — review their own policies before connecting a key.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be updated. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
